In this lecture, Kristofer Davis will show how to run depth-to-basement inversion using VPmg’s geometry and homogeneous geological unit inversion in Geoscience ANALYST Pro Geophysics. This is an all-in-one solution that can be used on any type of model. VPmg has many inversion styles that can be used independently or in concert to help the user recover the best model to describe the geophysical basement.
In 10 minutes he showed how to:
- Create a VP model from scratch
- Invert a two-layer model using homogeneous properties
- Invert using a laterally heterogeneous basement
- Create a top-of-basement surface from the results to share
This episode will become available on our YouTube channel. More details about this series can be found on our Events page or join the mailing list.
Kristofer is a Scientific Programmer who completed his PhD in Geophysics at the Colorado School of Mines. As a Post-Doctoral Researcher at UBC he worked on several advanced problems in geophysical inversion, focusing, amongst other research areas, on development of software workflows to support constrained geophysical inversion. His industry and academic background provide the ideal experience to continue development of our VP Suite products, GIFtools, and our other geophysical tools and workflows. Kristofer is based in Vancouver.
